New Horizon ▪ Enter Worship

"I wrote this song at a songwriter’s retreat two years ago with Susanna Carter.
I had a vision of a sunrise, so the first lyrics I got were the first two lines of the first verse, which says, “I see a new horizon, I see a dawning sun, slowly but surely rising, waking everyone”.
In the spiritual, I felt that it was a vision for the church, that we were coming into a new season. Little did I know that COVID was just around the corner, and that the whole world was just about to change!
I really feel that, for the church, there has been a winnowing. The dictionary’s description of ‘winnow’ is ‘to free (grain) from the lighter particles of chaff, dirt, etc., especially by throwing it into the air and allowing the wind or a forced current of air to blow away impurities’. I think this is an amazing metaphor for what has happened. The whole world through COVID has been thrown up into the air, including the church, and the wind, the Holy Spirit, has blown away a lot of the crap that had become prevalent, and there’s been a sifting out of the luke warm believers.
I do believe that this is an exciting season though, one where we will see God move in power as we allow Him to move in and through us."
